What is canyoning

Canyoning  involves getting very wet. It is a full on, whole day activity. It  involves scrambling up or down the canyon, jumping in pools, sliding down rocky slides, traversing rock pools, climbing waterfalls and generally having fun in the water. Canyoning is a fantastic activity for older families, groups or couples.

Why should I do canyoning with climb365?

Canyoning is absolutely brilliant and we love it!

We run canyoning as an all day canyoning adventure and see it as a step up from gorge walking.  Check out the video clip below to see what I mean.

We love taking groups canyoning and have been working and enjoying taking groups canyoning in the Lake District for over 20 years. With our vast knowledge of the best canyoning venues and how the water levels change, we can give you an exciting, challenging and safe day.

We are AALA licensed and therefore able run canyoning for groups of children and young people under 18 without their parents being present. Older school groups and scouts love canyoning.

Where is the canyoning?

The two best canyoning venues are the River Esk in the central Lake District and Hell ghyll near Sedbergh.

Both venues are easy to get from Kendal, Ambleside or Keswick.

If you are a more adventurous group, but don’t want to do a full day, then canyoning in Church Beck in Coniston or Rydal Beck near Ambleside are both great for a half day adventure. They have some fantastic pools and scrambles.

 Am I suitable for canyoning?

No experience of canyoning is needed. Come ready to have fun and be challenged. Younger children may get cold with a full day in the ghyll and a half session or gorge walking may be more suitable.
