Beginners scrambling course Lake District

“Striding Edge, but one of the historic scrambles we can do and more”

Just completed a 2-day scrambling rope course at climb365. We had Stu leading on the first day and Mark on the second day. The whole experience from start to finish was fantastic. Both Mark and Stu were fantastic. They were incredibly knowledgeable and experienced and were clearly passionate about what they do. Safety was always taken very seriously and however, both ensured to enjoy plenty of fun and laughter into the days. Other than my brain hurting from absorbing so much information I can’t think of anything negative to write. Would highly recommend climb365 as a company and both Stu and Mark and instructors. We’ll definitely be booking back on to do some more rock and ice climbing courses.

Why should I do this course?

You love being out in the mountains hill walking and want to have a go at mountain scrambling knowing that you are in safe hands. Alternatively, you may already have done grade 1 scrambles like Striding Edge or Swirral Edge and want to try something harder with the safety of a rope. Scrambling is a hugely challenging, yet enjoyable activity and is accessible to all levels of ambition. Although not as serious as rock climbing, when you are scrambling you can find yourself in some very exhilarating situations.

What does this course cover?

Beginners guided scrambling is a two-day course spending time on classic summer scrambling routes at grades 1,2 and 3. We hope to cover some classic mountain scrambles like Pinnacle Ridge, Cam Crag Ridge, Slab and Notch on Pillar, Harrison Stickle in Langdale, Easy Terrace and Giants Crawl on Dow.
We will guide you up the scrambles, often protected by a rope, teach you how to place your feet and which are the best handholds. You will get a really good idea about what level of scrambling you are happy with and might attempt on your own.

Who else will be on the course?

The course will be run on a maximum of 1 instructor to 4 client ratio.

What do I need to have done before?

You should be hill fit and happy to spend a day in the fells walking.  No other experience needed.

We will teach you lots of skills and coach your movement as you begin to learn about scrambling.

It’s really fun and will be as much of a challenge as you want.
